The whisky trail: A selection of some of the finest distillery ‘names’ can
be found locally, such as, Blair Athol, Famous Grouse, Tullibardine and
Dewars. Tours are readily available.
Golf and sport: As
well as the famed Gleneagles complex, why not visit St Andrews or the
British Golf Museum. Alternatively, try a day at the races and have a
flutter at Perth Racecourse. Seasonal snow skiing, walking and cycling are
high on the list too.
Adventure and theme parks: Plenty to choose from
such as Deep Sea World, Blair Drummond Safari Park, Highland Adventure
Safari and Landmark Theme Park.
Historical landmarks: There are none more famous than
Holyroodhouse Palace, Glamis Castle or Stirling Castle and the Wallace
Monument. A taste of the past, both fact and fiction.
Local interest: Re-live the history of the Scottish railways at
Bo’ness
or Strathspey Railway Centres or be amazed at the ‘Hollow Mountain’ at
Cruachan Power Station.
Mountain high: None more so than the Ben Nevis Highland Centre or
if not, try the Cairngorm Mountains, the Killin Folklore Centre, or the Rob Roy
Trossachs Centre at Callendar. More peaceful pursuits can be enjoyed at Drummond
Trout Farm, Stirling Old Town jail or at one of the many villages such as Caithness,
Oban or Pitlochry.
